My old late friend Albert North had a Dore Westbury which he used extensively for milling on miniature loco parts including 2 5"g Brits, a 5"g 9F, a 5"g Pansy, and a 5"g Firefly, and much else besides. I have a dore westbury miller and a cowel rack tail stock atachment all of which have a 5/16 drawbar hole. one way round the problem is to make some adapters 3/8 bsw male taped 5/16 bsf (my draw bar is bsf) The adaptor can protude from the male morse taper about half an inch, the same distance as a morse taper tang without fouling.

127 photos. I have a Dore Westbury mk2 with a collet chuck screwed on to the Myford nose and it has been fine and I also have a much bigger milling machine with a DRO and I would be sorry if I had to sell the Dore Westbury as it still is a useful tool. At £ you can not go wrong.
DoreWestbury MKII Milling Machine: The cut on each tooth is intermittent which is a source of vibration and there is also a certain amount of tool rubbing involved which further loads the machine frame. All of this means that milling machines have to be quite large to be rigid enough to avoid vibration and produce a good surface finish.
