Simple 2d pocket facing leaving an island?
Verified Members. 183. Location:Rhode Island. Posted October 29, 2008. The 2D pockets take longer to process than they did in the past. A simple pocket with 610 islands .012 deep with a 3/16 endmill inside a 4" x 5" pocket takes close to a minute to process. Just my two cents!

If your doing holes with and end mill then the fastest way is to do a helical bore. Yes X6 will support it. This is your fastest method. Making round holes using pocket is amateur. Sorry but it's true. The fastest way to produce these holes would be to use a udrill close to size of the finished hole and depth then run a helix.
